Full Roof Replacement in Rochester
Our team at Five Star Roofing LLC were contacted by the owner of a rental building in Rochester NH. The building had an old roof that was experiencing Rot and Leaking and was becoming an issue prompting them to decide to have a roof inspection / Quote for a full roof replacement rather than an emergency roof repair due to being the best choice to avoid complications in the future. The decision was made to go with our Atlas Signature Select Roofing System using Atlas Pinnacle Pristine Shingles. Atlas Designer Shingles feature Scotchgard which protects and fights Algae and unsightly black streaks keeping your roof looking newer longer. Atlas Designer Shingles offer a lifetime limited warranty, Atlas Designer Shingles are high-performance with the HP42 technology features a wide format to better curb appeal, a sweet spot nailing area and double FANTASTIC sealant line to ensure your shingles will stay put. Atlas Designer Shingles have wind protection with Hp42 technology and protect your roof from winds up to 130 mph. Atlas Designer Shingles are Class 3 Impact Resistant making this shingle if you're looking for a worthy return on investment. The color that was chosen for the full roof replacement was Coastal Granite. The first step for the full roof installation prior to the removal of shingles was nailing giant tarps to the bottom edge of each roof section, these tarps allowed us to slide the shingles we removed to where we wanted them to land, we also laid tarps on the ground. This method protects the home and landscaping during the full roof replacement.
We removed and disposed of all existing layers of roofing on the entire home. The next step in the full roof replacement was doing a thorough inspection of the existing roof deck, looking for any rotted wood and ensure all nail heads are properly secured. During this process we found that there were large gaps between the decking plywood, so we then made the decision to replace the decking on the entire roof with 1/2in OSB plywood. The next step in the full roof replacement was inspecting the ventilation system and making alterations that where needed to ensure proper air flow. The outcome of the inspection was that there was not proper ventilation and so we cut the ridge back and installed new Atlas TruRidge Ridge Vent to ensure proper ventilation. F8 drip edge was installed to all edges of roof and we fit the drip edge USING 45-degree angles. Making sure that the water would flow properly. 9 ft of ice and water shield was installed on the bottom edges of the roof, we also installed ice and water shield in all valleys and around all roof penetrations as well as all the critical areas where flashing was installed. The next step in the full roof replacement was making sure all of the chimneys were re-flashed using lead flashing. We take special care in this area of the job the lead flashing is the main component to keep water out. Anywhere that there was no ice and water shield we installed Summit 60 Premium underlayment. We then installed the Atlas Pinnacle Pristine Architectural Asphalt Shingles.
Additional information:
We used a chalk line to make certain the cap of the roof in in perfect line. Roofing paper and ice and water shield were be installed using cap nails, all nails were strategically
placed and set to the perfect depth. Nails were installed so both pieces of the laminate shingle were tightly held together and tightly fastened to roof deck.
Here is some information on some of the materials used on this project
• F8 drip edge aluminum (a piece of roof trim which directs water into the gutters, ensuring that water ends up where it is
supposed to go as it drains from the roof. In some homes, a drip edge is not necessary because of the way in which the roof is
designed. In others, it is needed)

Rubber Repair and Seal
•We installed new membrane cover tape on all the seams that are compromised of the rubber roofing section. Materials being used were Carlisle Bonding Adhesive (90-8-30A Bonding Adhesive is a high-strength, solvent-based contact adhesive that
allows quick bonding of cured flashings and membranes to various substrates. This adhesive is specially formulated for application with a 1/2″ (13 mm) medium nap roller.)

Client Review
5 Star roofing put a new roof on a side by side multi family home. The house has a large roof and two garages. Five Star worked with me on materials and timing of the job. They did a great job, and left the property in the same shape as when they started. I would recommend them to my friends and family.
